Composite was made in September of 2025. It originally only had one model, called Orchestrator. Orchestrator took a list of models, picked one, chose samplers and steered the model, allowing for a (hopefully) dynamic experience. The orchestrator is where the name of Composite came from, since it was merging a lot of models together into one, a composite of models.

Composite originally started as "Composite for JanitorAI", and was originally put on the r/JanitorAI_Official subreddit the exact day it was released. This was far before there was any team for LuciditySH let alone Composite, it was a solo thing. When it was first released, for the first 1-4 hours I was shaking, primarily out of fear and anxiety, not excitement.

Composite continued for a few months, having events called "The Great Composite Financial Crisis" (happened 2-3 times), in which there was some factor that was neccasary for maintaining Composite was costing more than what could be managed. Thankfully, these were left behind with old Composite.

Composite for the most part of it's life was just an ad supported, no account system where you could get an API key, watch an ad and be set just like that.

Most of the versions of Composite were the same. Except for four key versions:

  1. CV8
Composite V8 was a landmark version of Composite, released around Christmas day 2025. I at least consider it the best version of "old" Composite that there was. It utilized all the testers it had available and had large pushes in terms of features, due to fear of a another specific service coming up and hurting Composite (said service never made it to release).
  2. CV9 / 9.5
Composite V9 was a buggy release, it was mostly just a repainted V8 with less things due to the lack of resources available. This lead to not only an extremely dark time for Composite, but for me as it's owner. This eventually built up into an admission that over the span of an hour after midnight, had surprising amounts of genuine support, which led to the imminent 3 hour speed-creation of 9.5, the last "old" Composite version.
  3. CV10
V10 was the first time that a Composite version didn't look like Composite. There were suddenly accounts and payment options... and people who assumed that meant Composite went paid and that Composite never do free models again (we've given hundreds of dollars since just towards keeping free options for those who can't pay).
  4. CV12
V12 was yet another pivot, equal to that of V10. The goal was to take Composite and make it into a super-charged provider, based on the ideas created for CV8, it allows for the same prompt additions and customizations, and a lot more of them, while finally having a sustainable free tier that isn't constantly changing.

Why is there so much Pippa on site?? MariMari_EN??

Very large pivot from the section above, but theres a lot of stuff about Pipkin Pippa on the website (in places like the calendar, 404 page, theming of V9 and V11) because of a couple of reasons:

  1. It's funny
  2. It's been done for the entirety of the operation-span of Composite
  3. As per V9, she allows for development to occur

And CompositeV12 is themed around MariMari_EN, because we all need fish in our life, and its also fun.
