What is Composite?
A community for roleplay content, and the API that runs it. People publish profiles, presets, prompts, lorebooks and plugins; you attach them to one API key and use it from JanitorAI, SillyTavern, ChubAI, Agnai, RisuAI or any OpenAI-compatible app.
Do I need to pay?
No. Accounts are free, every community asset is free, and you can connect your own provider key (OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Mistral or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint) at no charge. Synth is free on every account without a key, and a few other models are free with 80 requests a day shared between them.
What is Synth?
LuciditySH's creative model, free on Composite. Every account gets 80 Synth requests a day, 300 a day for the first week after joining with a friend's referral code, up to 200 a day by inviting friends, and unlimited Synth with credits or a plan.
What do credits and plans add?
Every model in the catalog without a provider key of your own, premium memory layers, unlimited Synth, and helper calls Composite runs for you. Plans renew monthly; credits are spent per request.
What is an OpenAI-compatible API?
It accepts the same request shape as OpenAI's chat completions endpoint, so any client that talks to OpenAI can talk to Composite by changing the base URL and the key. Composite also speaks the Anthropic /v1/messages, Google Gemini and OpenAI Responses formats.
Is Composite compatible with JanitorAI and SillyTavern?
Yes. It works with JanitorAI, SillyTavern, ChubAI, Agnai, RisuAI, and any frontend that accepts an OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Each has a setup guide in the docs.
What happens when a roleplay outgrows the context window?
By default the oldest messages are trimmed so the request fits, which is why long chats forget early details. Composite's memory layers summarise old history and keep a record of characters, relationships and open plot threads instead.
What is your upstream provider?
With your own key, whichever provider you connect. For models bought through Composite, OpenRouter serves non-LucidityAI models and LucidityAI models run on Composite's own infrastructure.
Can Composite be trusted to not disappear?
Composite has been running for over a year. Your keys and saved assets stay in your account, and you can export or delete them at any time.
Is this the same Composite as "Composite Seabase"?
Yes. "Composite Seabase" refers to Composite, the roleplay community and API.
